Here is an overview of the shortlisted projects:
The project tracks encompassed Layer2, RGB, Lightning Network, Taproot, Ordinals, BRC20, stablecoins, and lending, among others.
Project teams came from around the world, representing regions such as Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States, Russia, and Hungary.
Notably, 82% of the founders were serial entrepreneurs with extensive experience.
Below is a list of the showcased projects:
O4O3
One-liner: O4O3 — Where Bitcoin meets Fintegra
Introduction: O4O3 is the first platform on the Bitcoin blockchain to offer native lending and stablecoin integration, revolutionizing decentralized finance.
Team Backgrounds: The O4O3 project team boasts extensive experience in Web3 development, blockchain technology, and economic theory. The team includes top developers in decentralized storage and second-layer solutions, with expertise in programming languages and smart contract execution. Additionally, there are experts in the blockchain DeFi space who excel in combining mathematical analysis with economic theory to drive innovation in areas such as insurance, trading, and first-layer/second-layer operations. The team’s collective experience from previous work in high-frequency trading, IoT, and e-commerce provides them with ample innovative development capabilities.
Bitmap Protocol
One-liner: Building the core protocol and user community for Bitcoin Layer 1 and bringing liquidity to Layer 2 scaling solutions.
Introduction: Bitmap is one of the largest ecosystems on BTC, providing users with greater convenience through the Bitmap browser, on-chain engine, editor, and trading marketplace. Bitmap Protocol (BRC-420) combines Ordinals assets on Layer 1. The next plan is to migrate users, assets, and asset issuance from Layer 1 to a more native Layer 2 solution, attracting more liquidity and developer ecosystem.
Team Backgrounds: The team has experience in developing metaverse applications with 40 million global users in the Web2 space and constructing open-source development engines on-chain. They are serial entrepreneurs.
Veda
One-liner: BTC smart contract extension based on Ordinals.
Introduction: Veda is a lightweight BTC smart contract extension based on Ordinals. It allows for off-chain EVM state indexing using BTC’s on-chain data without altering the current Bitcoin consensus.
Team Introduction: The Veda development team is composed of passionate developers and technical experts focusing on Web3 and the Ethereum ecosystem. Team members have worked for prominent mining hardware manufacturer Canaan. Over the past few years, team members have participated in various well-known projects, developing networks and test networks, and assisting in improving network and tool-related issues. The Veda team is committed to advancing BTC’s smart contract extension and promoting the development of the BTC ecosystem.
BitMask
One-liner: Browser extension for decentralized applications on Bitcoin using the RGB protocol.
Introduction: Users can access Bitcoin financial services, NFTs (UDAs), and more while maintaining complete financial sovereignty through Bitcoin and Lightning Network wallets enabled with Taproot. The DIBA team can collect and trade UDAs (Bitcoin NFTs) bound to Bitcoin’s UTXOs, creating unique digital assets instantly, without fees or delays.
Team Introduction: Founder and familiar CEO Gideon Nweze, originally from Nigeria and educated in Russia, has established the first Bitcoin digital asset marketplace using the RGB smart contract protocol and the Lightning Network in Silicon Valley. Gideon holds degrees in nanotechnology and microelectronics engineering with a minor in physics. He previously created the World Blockchain Hackathon and Babylon projects, attracting a development community from 69 countries with an audience of 2.4 million people. Chief Technology Officer Jose Robles is a physicist, Rustacean, Pythonist, and Bitcoin developer residing in Spain.
Bison Labs
One-liner: Bison Labs is a Bitcoin-based project dedicated to developing Bitcoin DeFi using zero-knowledge proof rollups.
Introduction:Bison Labs is a ZK-rollup project leading the future of native Bitcoin DeFi, offering fast and secure transactions with full DeFi functionality. Bison’s solution uses zero-knowledge proofs and Ordinals for fast and secure transactions, with all data anchored back to Bitcoin for enhanced security. They believe they can achieve 2,200 transactions per second with fees 36 times lower than Bitcoin.
Team Introduction: The team possesses deep expertise in blockchain technology, particularly with team members who have contributed code to Starknet.
B² Network
One-liner: B² Network, the most practical Bitcoin Layer 2 network.
Introduction: B² is a Bitcoin Layer 2 network achieved through ZK Rollup and Bitcoin’s on-chain logical gate commitment verification mechanism. It aims to address Bitcoin’s scalability challenges while preserving its core principles of decentralization, trustless operations, and a transparent ledger. The network is compatible with EVM, developer-friendly, and supports both Bitcoin and Ethereum format account addresses for users, expanding the utility and influence of Bitcoin and its emerging derivative assets in web3.
Team Introduction: The B² technical team was established in 2016 and is one of China’s earliest blockchain technology teams. The core members are active contributors to mainstream Web3 open-source communities such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Cosmos, and Sui.
DLC
One-liner: DLC achieves trustless Bitcoin DeFi without custodians or bridges.
Introduction: The project uses Discreet Log Contracts to reduce counterparty risk and expand lending and settlement options, establishing a trust infrastructure for the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Team Introduction: CEO Aki Balogh previously founded an AI company that successfully raised $15 million and is also an investor at data company OpenView. CTO Jesse Eisenberg is a former technical project lead at Twitter, MoPub, and Pivotal Labs.
Introduction: All transactions are securely stored natively on the Bitcoin blockchain. The use of PSBTs and DLCs technology facilitates transactions and secure custody of Ordinals. Since all operations occur on Bitcoin Layer 1, there is no need to wrap Bitcoin or Ordinals.
Team Introduction: Deeply involved in the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems with a profound understanding of DeFi.
